Significant dates in the development of the Consorzio Tutela Speck Alto Adige

1992Seventeen producers established the Consortium for the promotion of Speck from Alto Adige or South Tyrol, under the administration of the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce.
1996The PGI – Protected Geographical Indication status was acquired.
1997The consortium became independent of the Chamber of Commerce.
1999A new consortium brand was created that more distinctly identified Speck.
1999Provincial (state) inspection functions were transferred to the independent institute INEQ.
1999First Speck Fair was held.
2000First TV campaigns were launched in Italy and Germany.
2001A new certification system complying with the European Union standards (EEC EN 45011) took effect.
2003The Italian Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies recognized the Consorzio di Tutela under national law.
2004Speck Alto Adige was authorized for sale in the United States by the American health authorities.
2006First promotional activities in the United States occurred.
2007The consortium introduced a new logo.
2007A promotion program began in Italy, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
2008A promotion program began in Switzerland.
2009The consortium created and launched a new corporate design.
2011European Union approved the new production protocol, meaning the new criteria for the production of Speck Alto Adige.
2011The new control plan that regulates the control activities of the speck ham production was introduced. The former plan needed to be adapted to the new production criteria.
2011 First South Tyrol Gourmet Festival, featuring Speck, was held in Bolzano.
2012After 20 years Franz Senfter assigns the presidency to Andreas Moser.
2014In Italy, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic started a three-year information campaign.
2014The company Raich is the 30st producer of Speck Alto Adige PGI.
