The Consortium for the promotion of Speck Alto Adige, one of the most typical Italian food products was established in 1992 by 17 producers under the administration of the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano.
The Consortium has been authorized by the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies under Decree dated 04/12/2003 to represent the interests of Speck producers.
The activities of the Consorzio Tutela Speck Alto Adige concern the quality policy, the safeguarding of the brand and the promotional actions regulated by specific directives contained in the laws of the European Union (Reg. No. 510/2006), of Italy (Law No. 526/99) and of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. In carrying out said activities, the Consortium actively works together with various local and national institutions: the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, the independent control institute INEQ (Istituto Nord Est Qualità), as well as the South Tyrol export organization of the Chamber of Commerce (EOS).
