The fundamental stages in the history
of the Consorzio Tutela Speck Alto Adige

The Consortium was established in 1992 and has developed throughout these years through the following main stages:

1992 A total of 17 producers establishes the Consortium for the promotion of the Speck from Alto Adige (also known as „Südtiroler Speck“); the Consortium is administered by the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano
1996 Acquisition of the PGI – Protected Geographical Indication status
1997 Switch to independent administration of the Consortium
1999 A new consortium brand is created which identifies the product more distinctly
1999 Transfer of the inspection functions from the Provincial control centre to the independent institute INEQ
1999 First Speck Fair
2000 Launch of the first TV campaigns in Italy and Germany
2001 Introduction of a new certification system according to the EEC EN 45011 standards
2003 Recognition of the „Consorzio di Tutela“ by the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies adherent to Law No. 526/99
2004 Authorization for the sale of Speck Alto Adige in the United States
2006 First promotional actions in the USA
2007 Presentation of the new logo
2007 Promotion plans for Italy, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic
2008 Promotion plan for Switzerland
2009 Creation and launch of the new corporate design
2011 Approval of the new production protocol by the European Union
2011 Introduction of the new control plan
2011  First South Tyrol Gourmet Festival in Bolzano
